Aurélie Girault joined the firm on 12 November of 2009, but she has been an "insider" at Soulez Larivière & Associés for quite some time. At the end of her Paris Bar School programme, Aurélie completed a six-month internship with the firm, from January to June 2009.
"I was quickly attracted to the unity of the firm’s small, close-knit team", she comments with regard to her initial experience with the firm. "I felt especially comfortable as I was quickly able to work in the areas I had decided to specialise in: criminal and private law. Under the guidance of the firm’s partners, I prepared for depositions and hearings, took care of court formalities and conducted legal research. It was a highly varied experience. I admire the firm’s approach, which allows me to contribute my expertise to different teams depending on the subject matter, in small and large cases in a wide range of fields."
Aurélie Girault was a brilliant student, but remains modest about her achievements. She received six upper second class honours awards between 2002 and 2007, in respect of diplomas and dissertations in both criminal and general private law.
One previous experience that made a strong impression on Aurélie was the nine-month volunteer internship she carried out with the "Le Club des Juristes" association, which brings together business professionals, lawyers, judges and law professors. One of the association’s main goals is to promote dialogue between the various players in the legal, business and political arenas. "With Nicolas Molfessis, who dreamed up and launched this unique project, I was able to hone my views of both my profession and some of the major issues that the press ignores, oversimplifies or even distorts. We prepared case files, sought out funding, set up a website, drafted legal summaries, prepared communication documents, networked and organised the first "dinner-debates". This experience clearly contributed to my development in terms of relational skills and independence, and also enabled me to polish my writing skills".
Since joining the firm, Aurélie has in particular helped manage two major cases: an investigation relating to involuntary manslaughter and unintentional injury, and the Concorde trial.
