Representing the Total group in the litigation arising from the sinking of the Erika has enabled the firm to develop a reputation in the environmental field, in which it already had a strong practice.
The appeal court delivered its judgment in the Erika case in March 2010, ruling that Total was not liable to pay civil damages.
The firm’s work in the area of asbestos claims should also be mentioned. These cases often relate to events that occurred many years ago and keep coming up again and again. They have the distinctive feature of being complex matters, as they are multi-disciplinary, mixing many different types of law: employment, environmental, health, criminal law etc.
However, the firm handles broader environmental issues for its regular clients, such as the definition of waste, the environmental impact of accidents, and industrial risks. It also handles matters relating to sea and river pollution.
